DURATIONAL PERFORMANCE / SPATIAL SOUND / GOLDEN SANDS

2024

A sound installation for vintage electronics, software and acoustic instruments, using custom ultrasonic kinetic speakers designed for an audience to be within.

How do we remain? turns the Primrose Potter Salon into an immersive aural soundscape by projecting sound onto the walls, resulting in a space of darkened sanctuary.

With ultrasonic speakers mounted on moving gimbals, and live musicians intermittently contributing to the physical and aural space, How do we remain? asks, as we live with the cognitive dissonance of how the world is today, can we imagine a discipline of respite and resistance?

As the fabric of the piece evolves, with elements of artificial sound and voice constantly developing, How do we remain? is designed for audiences to stay for as long as they like and appreciate the mesmerising and ever-changing choreography of sound.
